Cosmetic Dentistry
Porcelain Crown and Veneers
Porcelain (or ceramic) crowns and veneers can be ideal for more extensive treatments and where longevity of the veneer is the most important factor. Porcelain crowns and veneers are custom designed and fitted, with great care taken to ensure a great colour match to your surrounding teeth. Porcelain veneers have a life span of about 15 years.
- Length of treatment: three appointments are required. An initial appointment for ‘tooth/teeth preparation’. A midway appointment is where the unglazes ceramic is tried in, usually with the lab technician also present so adjustments can be made. At the following appointment the porcelain laminate is bonded to the prepared tooth/teeth.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers can be ideal for minimising tooth tissue removal and/or where budget is a factor. The life span is about 10 years.
These veneers are layered with different colours and translucencies and have a high gloss finish. They deliver a quality finish very similar to porcelain veneers.
